The last place Denise wanted to land after college was back with her folks in her Podunk-nowhere hometown. With only retail experience on her resume, her writing accolades apparently mean nothing except student loan debt.

So when her parents say they’re moving to an adult living community where she’ll be sleeping on the couch, it’s the last straw. Putting her fruitless creative dreams aside, she interviews with a wealthy couple to watch their retired greyhounds. Sounds easy—until she has to win over their animal psychic and learn to cook steak for dogs. The hounds’ raucous antics only highlight how clueless she is at life as she struggles to not only control them, but the direction she’s headed.

That includes her love life. She meets Logan—hot, ambitious, a player—around the same time her twice-over ex, Alex, calls her, ready for a real relationship. Logan claims the world is her playground; Alex says everything she needs is right there. Not knowing what to do, Denise juggles dating both, falling further down an emotional rabbit hole.

Running toward a shady relationship, with retail hell looming, Denise has the summer to figure out her biggest problem: herself.

“A fast-paced and ebullient contemporary romance” — Kirkus Reviews

Letting Go and Holding On

PAPERBACK: $9.99 EBOOK: $.99

Zoey Young leads a typical teenage life, fighting with her parents' ideas for her future and their fear of her dependence on her best friend, Laura Simmons. When their fears become reality, Zoey struggles to regain any semblance of control in her life. Not until she meets mystery boy, Tristan Wright, is she able to open herself up again and develop a newfound confidence. But as she gets caught up in a whirlwind romance filled with uncertainty, she begins to blindly follow him down a destructive path.

Journalist Deirdre Hart is struggling through her own hardship, with her estranged husband asking for a divorce after three years of burying their problems. Her work proves an adequate escape, until her research into a string of teenage suicide shootings causes her past to creep back into her present. Despite cautioning from family and friends about her unhealthy obsession, she searches for the one answer she desperately hopes will bring her peace.

As Zoey's relationship with Tristan takes a drastic turn, Deirdre discovers a dangerous secret, and both women are forced to decide between letting go and holding on.

“All good narratives contain four important elements: memorable characters, intense conflicts, meaningful relationships and exciting plots. D.M. Roberts' first novel, ‘Letting Go and Holding On’ has all of these elements and more!” — I Pierce, Paperback reader

“This book was a very interesting read from beginning to end. I really could have read the entire book in one sitting if time allowed me to. Very interesting characters and believable… I really would recommend this book even to the teenagers as well as adults.” — Linda Swogger, Kindle reader

“I'm a sucker for complex characters, and the author's in-depth research of adolescent psychology lends itself perfectly to that kind of rich development. Roberts flits between characters' inner monologues, familial interactions, analyses of current events, and slowly but deftly intertwines them, until the end result sucker-punches the reader. A book that educates, entertains, and forces us to more closely examine the world around us, D.M. Roberts' freshman effort is definitely worth picking up.” — Siobhan Allen, Kindle reader
